Smashbox Contour Stick Trio Review

There has been quite some rave reviews of this contour trio kit all over the internet so of course I had to give it a try. I first bought it for my makeup kit then I loved it that much that I had to buy for myself. IMG_9960Smashbox Contour Stick Trio :  An exclusive set of three ultra-blendable, creamy sticks that glide effortlessly onto skin for targeted, precise application and a totally even finish. These hot contouring products have always been a best-kept secret of those in the know. Now Smashbox has made it easy to put your best face forward with three shades that mimic perfect lighting: Contour sculpts by creating shadows, Highlight mimics light reflection to pull features forward, and Bronze provides a smooth transition that eliminates the look of harsh lines. The result is flawlessly shaped features from defined-looking cheekbones to a seemingly perfected nose to the appearance of a sculpted jawline. The kit also includes a how-to insert with simple instructions for achieving the best look for your face shape.
This set contains: Contour Sticks in Contour, Bronze, and Highlight
IMG_9967Highlight: A yellow-toned matte shade which works pretty well on medium skintone. I love using this shade under the eyes in a triangle shape, bringing it up to my temples. I also use it under my eye concealer for extra brightening, around the mouth, down the bridge of the nose, and to carve out/clean up my contour. As the texture is kind of thick ,I consider this as my concealer as well.
IMG_9972Bronze: A medium, warmer brown matte shade.This shade is for bronzing, its not too orange or red. I use it where I would use my powder bronzer – mostly on my cheeks, forehead and jawline for extra warmth and also use it to blend out my contour properly.

Contour: A slight  cool toned medium brown . I wont lie, this is my most favorite shade to cream contour. I have never found anything that perfect for my skin to contour.  It mimics shadows quite well. I use this in the hollows of my cheekbones, down the sides of my nose, and under the jawline if i do cream contour. I do not contour always.
IMG_9981Swatches :  You can see each shade issuper pigmented, they remind me a lot of Foundation Sticks both in texture and finish. Despite being a matte formula each shade is not completely flat, they look natural on the skin and never chalky or muddy . Swatches from Left to Right : Contour , Bronze, Highlight

My Thoughts : I really really really do love these.They are so smooth,creamy, blend very easily.I really think this trio set is so perfect for the beginners to experiment.It comes with basic instructions and it is super easy to apply. I love the texture and the shades of the three pencils. They do last so long on my skin too , just to mention ,my skin is dry but as these are very creamy and smooth , I think they wont be so good if you have extremely oily skin, but as we always set the cream product with powders so Oily skin people will be able to use these too. I am so in love with this trio set but to be very honest to you , I found the price is little too high for what you get,  they use up fast because of the texture, and when you sharpen them, the sticks shorten dramatically. This is the only one thing that I am so sad about this set .

Pros of  the set:
* Well pigmentation on one swipe.
* Long Lasting, Moisturizing, Blendable.
* Smooth texture & very nice shades.

Cons of  the set:
* Price

Where To BuyThe Smashbox Contour Stick Trio is available at Smashbox, Sephora, Macys, Nordstrom, Beauty.com . I bought mine from Macys .

As you have probably guessed by now, I think they’re amazing. I’ve been using them non-stop since purchasing them, especially the contour shade because, I really have nothing that perfect to contour.  I would highly recommend these if you want to spend a little for perfect contour.
